PVCC’s Puma Press posts its first web broadcast of the semester

Thanks to Tim Vetscher of ABC15,  PVCC’s student journalists have begun to learn broadcast reporting. Last spring under Vetscher’s tutelage, the press posted six broadcasts.  In Spring 2010, the seasoned broadcaster will join the adjunct journalism faculty as he teaches Broadcast Writing on Thursday evenings.

Broadcast Writing is an elective in PVCC’s 21-hour Occupational Journalism Certificate Program, which renders graduates ready to meet the industry at entry level.

This Friday the press’s broadcast strength expanded when new student Jorge Melchor, a freelance film producer from Mexico City, joined the press’s editorial staff as the first Puma Press broadcast editor. Melchor went to work last Friday afternoon, supporting new journalism student, Bernadette Rabiej, as she edited and posted the first Puma Press broadcast of Fall 2009.  Her report on Fine Arts faculty, David Bradley’s, Musiciphilia went online much sooner than would have been possible without this great teamwork.

Thank you, Tim and Jorge!
