Seek the truth

The Internet is influencing the appetites of readers.  This is a day when blogged gossip is shouted across the nation, drowning the fact-checked reports of the traditional news outlets.  For many readers, the distinction between facts and inferences is being lost, and whoever shouts loudest wins.  Let us become more careful listeners and defenders in these times of what is true.  The first job of the press is to report the truth.  In this busy information environment, it is equally important that readers carefully listen for and demand the truth.
